“Change for Change”

UCC’s Disaster Recovery Mission
The United Church of Christ has established Long Term Recovery Committees (LTRCs) in each Florida county to help with rebuilding after natural disasters.  A volunteer from each county is needed to attend their local LTRC meetings as representatives of UCC’s Disaster Mission which provides volunteers, materials and funds to the LTRCs.  Contact Bill Wealand (352-751-6273, 352-406-4484, cwwealand@aol.com)
Send Books to Soldiers in Iraq
If you would like to do something for a soldier in Iraq, the Tattered Pages Bookstore in Crawfordville (926-8949) is sending new and used books overseas.  Both books and money for postage are welcomed!
Big Bend Habitat for Humanity
There are any number of ways to help this organization in their quest to provide new homes for those in need in our community.  From committee work to hands-on building you can make a difference.  Call the volunteer coordinator at 574-4288 to see what opportunities are available or our UCT contact Beth Horvath (926-6379).
International Exchange Students
Host families are needed to provide a bed and meals as well as friendship and understanding and a genuine desire to share the American way of life with 15 to 18 year-olds from overseas.  You may review student applications from over forty different countries before selecting.  Call Yvette Coffman at SHARE! Southwest Regional Office for more information 1-800-941-3738.
